In 1922, Rebecca Strand, the wife of photographer Paul Strand, visited Georgia O'Keeffe and Alfred Stieglitz at their home in upstate New York. The experimental photographs from her visit, especially the nude images of Strand at the lake were described by Stieglitz as “Eye-openers. Am surprised myself for while she was here I imagined I had totally failed.”
